At 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, mike. takes the stage at Red Rocks Amphitheatre with an opening set from DJ Stevie Daniels. That is the last show of 2026 on the venue's event calendar. The next listing is Saturday, March 27, 2027.
Up the road, three other Morrison schedules change on that same Sunday. Dinosaur Ridge is holding a free day. The Fort opens its regular holiday dining reservations. The boat ramps at Bear Creek Lake Park close for the winter. For anyone who lives within sight of Creation Rock, November 15 is when the town moves off the concert schedule and onto its own.
The Rule That Shapes Every Show Day
Red Rocks Park is open from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset, every day of the year. On concert days, though, the amphitheater usually closes to the public around 2 p.m. for sound checks and other operations, and it can close at any time on a show day. The closing time for a given show isn't set until the week of the event and can change. The venue posts current closure times on a phone recording at 720-865-2494.
The concert season runs from March through November, and the closure rule applies on each show day within it. The calendar still has a run of shows ahead. Cypress Hill, Method Man and Redman play Thursday, October 29, and deadmau5 follows on October 30 and 31. Then Dabin, ATLiens, the Face Vocal Band 25th Anniversary Concert, Steve Lacy, Clipse & J.I.D and GRYFFIN fill November before mike. closes things out across two nights, November 14 and 15. Each of those dates cuts the afternoon off for anyone hoping to climb the rows after lunch.
Red Rocks announces some shows only a few weeks ahead, so November 15 is the last listed date, not a promise. As the calendar stands, though, from November 16 until late March the amphitheater's afternoons stay open until an hour after sunset.
Sunday, November 15, Hour by Hour
The overlaps that day are tight enough to plan around.
- 8:15 to 10:15 a.m. This is the one weekly window when Red Rocks allows exercise groups of up to 50 people in the amphitheater. Tickets can't be sold for these workouts, and they can't be advertised.
- 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dinosaur Ridge holds an SCFD Free Day, billed as a chance to commemorate Colorado's Sesquicentennial "Dino Ridge Style."
- Around 2 p.m. The amphitheater closes to the public for the year's last show, if the usual show-day pattern holds.
- 3:30 p.m. mike. plays the final listed show of the season.
- All day. The Fort opens regular dining reservations for its Thursday-through-Saturday holiday weekends. Private holiday party inquiries are already open through the Private Events and Weddings form on its site.
- Also that day. Lakewood's annual boat ramp closure at Bear Creek Lake Park begins and runs through March 15, depending on conditions. Paddlecraft can still use the water all year.
The morning workout window ends well before the show-day closure, and the Dinosaur Ridge free day runs on past it, so the amphitheater belongs in the morning and Dinosaur Ridge can take the afternoon.
The Amphitheater Has Rules for Workouts
Once the show-day closures end, the amphitheater is open for workouts all day, and the Red Rocks recreation page sets out how to use it. Red Rocks calls itself a popular spot for runners and anyone after a hard workout at 6,400 feet. It asks that exercise not damage the venue or spoil anyone else's visit.
| Day | Maximum exercise group size |
|---|---|
| Monday through Thursday | 20 people |
| Friday and Saturday | 10 people |
| Sunday, 8:15 to 10:15 a.m. | 50 people, with no ticket sales or advertising |
Two more rules matter more than the group caps. Equipment can't block stairs, benches or other areas. The Top Plaza, landings and walkways are off-limits for exercise. If your training group has grown over the summer, the size limits are smallest on Friday and Saturday, so a midweek session is the easiest fit.
The Trails Stay Open on Show Days
The amphitheater is only part of the park. Red Rocks Park is a Denver Mountain Park, and its trails don't depend on the show calendar the way the amphitheater does.
The Trading Post Trail runs 1.4 miles through rock formations, valleys and a natural meadow. The footing is rough in places, and Red Rocks recommends hiking boots or shoes. The Red Rocks Trail covers the east side of the park and is open to hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers. One branch links north to Jefferson County's Matthews / Winters Park and makes a 6-mile loop. Another heads east to the Dakota Ridge Trail. That trail and its connector from the Lower North Parking Lot are the only routes in the park open to bicycles, including Class 1 e-bikes.
For a shorter outing, take Plains View Road to the Geologic Marker & Picnic Shelter, where the Geologic Overlook Trail begins. It is a short, moderate walk to the view. The Mt. Vernon Creek Trail runs about a mile along the creek and through the meadows above it, with views of the amphitheater along the way. Most trails are under 3 feet wide, and the park warns that weather can change fast. That warning matters more as winter comes on.
Winter Hours, Side by Side
On November 1, two weeks before the last show, the park's buildings and the lake park next door move to shorter hours.
| Place | November through February hours |
|---|---|
| Red Rocks Visitor Center | 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. |
| Trading Post | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Thanksgiving and Christmas |
| Ship Rock Grille | 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily, closed Thanksgiving and Christmas |
| Bear Creek Lake Park | 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. |
| Bear Creek Lake Park Visitor Center | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday |
The Visitor Center also houses the Red Rocks Hall of Fame, a permanent exhibit in the Heart of the Rock Theatre. Admission and parking are free for the park, the amphitheater, the Visitor Center and the Trading Post.
At Bear Creek Lake Park, Lakewood plows the paved Bear Creek and C-470 trails in winter. That makes them the dependable choice when the dirt trails at Red Rocks are icy. Lakewood lists a general vehicle day fee of $10. The $15 peak rate applies only between Memorial Day and Labor Day, so winter visits cost less. Annual passes go on sale in December at $80 general and $50 for seniors or people with disabilities. Lakewood's page says passes expire on December 31 of the pass calendar year, so check which year a December purchase covers before you buy.
Bear Creek Avenue Through the Quiet Months
Bear Creek Avenue fills up on show nights, but its regular places keep their regular hours once the season ends. The Cow / An Eatery at 316 Bear Creek Ave. lists daily hours of 6:59 a.m. to 8:01 p.m. Breakfast runs until 11 a.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends, and "linner" takes over after that. Rooftop Tavern at 215 Bear Creek Ave. opens every day at 11 a.m. and stays open until close. The Morrison Inn is at 301 Bear Creek Ave.
On November 15, that could mean the stairs before 10:15 a.m., breakfast at The Cow before its noon weekend cutoff, and the afternoon at Dinosaur Ridge before the free day ends at 4 p.m.
December Adds a New Business to Main Street
The biggest change of the off-season comes after the shows stop. The Red Hotel describes itself as Morrison's only boutique hotel, coffee shop and gathering space, opening "beginning December 2026." It is now booking 2026 stays and says guests can walk to Morrison's main street. According to the Denver Business Journal, the 22-room hotel missed its original spring 2026 opening because of construction delays. An earlier Canyon Courier report had expected it later in the summer. December is the hotel's own stated target.
If that target holds, Morrison's newest coffee counter opens during the stretch when Red Rocks has no shows listed.
Dinosaur Ridge rounds out the month. A second SCFD Free Day runs Sunday, December 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A Winter Break Camp follows December 28 through 31 at the Martin G. Lockley Discovery Center, which is listed at 17681 W. Alameda Parkway, Golden. Before either of those, on November 12 from 5 to 7 p.m., Dinosaur Ridge hosts a Fireside Chat called "From Fossils to Photographs" with photographer Meredith Fontana.
For a longer-range item, the Canyon Courier reports that on October 6 Morrison approved a pre-development agreement with Red Rocks Gateway for a future 16-acre Copart parcel. The proposals there include a grocery store, a hotel and an entertainment venue. All of it still depends on approval of Copart's site development plan and on the land transfer. For this winter, the changes are the open afternoons at the amphitheater and a new hotel coffee shop opening in December.
Knowing which weeks a mountain town is busy and which are quiet also matters when you are thinking about timing a property decision.
